How Do I Activate My Domain On GoDaddy.com?

  1. On your computer, using your favorite web browser, navigate to GoDaddy.com.
  2. Click the Log In icon in the upper right-hand corner of your page.
  3. Click the Web Hosting icon.
  4. Click the Manage button next to the hosting account you desire.
  5. Click Add Domain.
  6. Enter your desired domain name in the Domain field.

The next part is a bit tricky and is dependent on how you wish to configure the domain name.

  • Secondary - enter a new or existing folder name (note that there can be no spaces) in the Folder field. This is where the domain's website will be uploaded. Click OK.
  • Alias - leave the Folder field blank. Click OK.

Next, you must update the DNS for your domain name to access the hosting account. Updating the domain name and hosting is dependent on the location of the domain.

  • If the domain name and hosting are in the same GoDaddy.com account, GoDaddy.com automatically updates your domain name's DNS. No action on your part is necessary.
  • If it's different GoDaddy.com accounts, you must manually update your DNS (Note that you will need your website's IP address).
  • If your domain is registered anywhere else than GoDaddy.com. If this is the case, you'll need to update your domain's nameservers. Instructions for doing so are in the section, How Do I Unpark A Domain On GoDaddy.com section, below.
